finally watched the last episode … Jane was so silly … I refuse to take this into consideration while being her marvellous self… no, we are friends with Reid like it or not, she has never did that stupid silly thing.
// I would love to rp with dear Jane a bit more so if you would like a plot, starter, anything, anything… don´t hesitate :)
I will do things over the weekend, really, really
Ripper Street and the real Whitechapel.
1. Matthew Macfadyen as Edmund Reid and the real Edmund Reid
2. Ripper Street’s H Division and H Division Whitechapel
3.& 4. Streets of Ripper Street and the streets of Whitechapel
I do not know why they are always trying to make it “shippy”. I don´t understand why they did not give Reid and Emily a proper storyline where we actually see their relationship going down. You want to tell me, the Emily that helped others, cared about her house just suddenly broke down because Edmund told her that he had been cheating on her? Why replacing her with Jane? She does not seem to be a person who would so easily to fall in love with others. Judging by who she married… a writer .. somehow Reid does not come hand in hand with her personality .. but maybe I´m mistaken.
I want Reid / Jane in the matter of a little “awkward Reid .. here comes a woman” or “my bestie Jane” but not in …”kissy, kissy Jane”
"These girls have been saved from slavery and disease and given a place… a voice.
I insist on everything that was never insisted upon for me: education of the self, control of the self, respect of the self.”
I just…I want to like Jane Cobden and I loved it that she stood for the non-violent feminist group in the previous episode but I’m just really annoyed that all I’m getting from the show is shippedy shippedy ship. What with Jackson telling us how pretty she is and how well she fits Reid (Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think he has yet to admire how clever or diplomatic she is).
Add that to her line about not giving two fucks about his past (I dunno sis, if he’s got a dead daughter and a wife locked up, you might want to be wary of the baggage there) and to the fact that she is introduced over the backs of two perfectly fine female characters with interesting backgrounds and feminists notions of their own, it’s not clicking with me.
I’d just like to see her chew out sexist men and kick ass more. Be that diplomatic badass. Whether or not she’s doing Reid on the side is pretty much irrelevant to me.
I must admit I would rather like to see Jane being a friend of Reid´s, maybe even being a bit “platonic” and cheeky with him but nothing more. I do not know if it is because I love Amanda Hale so much that I want to see her character back or because I really simply thing.. I would like Jane to be .. Jane.. a bit more .. feminist and sexist and all that comes with it. those were hard times for ladies, stop concentrating only on ships.
